We did the final walk through and closed on the house on Tuesday, September 30. The next morning I picked up the keys and the movers unloaded our stuff into the garage. We spent our final night in the Motel that Wednesday night, and after checking out on Thursday morning, officially moved into our new house for good. The house didn't come with a refrigerator, so we ordered one and are using a mini fridge while we wait for it to arrive. We also had to wait a week for the Comcast technician to come hook up our internet. Other than those two slight inconveniences, we've made a rather smooth transition into our new home.
Obviously, we're still in a state of organized chaos, and it will be years before we have furniture to fill this place, but here are a few shots I've taken as we've started to unpack and settle in. When you walk in the door, there's a big front room that some day will have a nice couch, some chairs, a coffee table and maybe a piano. It will eventually make a lovely sitting room.
Standing in the same place as the above picture and turning to the right is the kitchen. While I think I may still be missing a box, I have a fully functioning kitchen and have really loved preparing meals with all this counter space.
Just down the hall from the kitchen is our very own cupboard under the stairs, though this one is probably a bit bigger than Harry's was (you can't tell in the picture, but the room goes back under the stairs to Hyrum's left). Unless we can't find a place for our seasonal storage items, we plan to put a Mister Ed door in and turn it into a little Mercy sized play room.
At the top of the stairs and to the left is the loft. There's a wet bar where the mini fridge will go when our real refrigerator gets here, and the TV will go in here too as soon as we find something for it to sit on. Until then, I think we are all benefiting from the extreme lack of screen time.
