We had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for Family Night this week and our girl was loving them.

Mercy Percy had her 18 month well child check up and vaccinations on Monday. Her weight is right around where it has been, percentile wise, but her height has fallen below the curve. The doctor suggested we see an endocrinologist if she hasn't had a growth spurt by her second birthday. The doctor was also a bit concerned about her speech development. Usually by this age children are expected to have around 20 words and to start pairing them up. Mercy has 5 words:
Mommy,
Dad,
see,
hi and
no, and that last one is the only one she uses with any regularity. She understands everything we say and can follow two step instructions, so I don't think there's a hearing or comprehension issue. Rather, I think she's darling and has two older brothers who are usually more than on top of meeting her needs, so she really has no urgent need for language. I suppose if she doesn't start talking soonish, we'll look into it, but I'm not especially worried.

They always say at first Mira is in the 25th percentile, then the doctor remeasured her and it turns out she iscin the 60th. You have short people in your family, some practices measure differently, so I am sure she is perfect. My kids spoke okay, but struggled comprehension wise. I am sure you are right and that she is a genius.
My son has had difficulty with speech, partly because of his tighter frenulum, but I think it has to do with desire. His sited started talking at 12 months and never stopped, but he is just like the other men in my family line-quiet and more thoughtful. He, at almost 3, is finally starting to add lots of words to his vocabulary, and put 2 words together. He says phrases that he learns, and is full of expression when he talks, but I just don't think he saw the need before now. I am sure she is probably fine, and has 2 older brothers who do her talking for her. As long as she gets what she needs she probably doesn't see much need for talking. :)
