The van hadn't been handling well and was making a clunking noise near the drivers side front tire. Matthew discovered the sway bar link was broken, so even though we'd been driving it, we decided it was probably best we stop until he was able to fix it. He picked up a new part on his way home from work and after going over to the Jolley's to help give a blessing, he repaired my van. While dad was busy doing his thing, we built robots out of cardboard boxes. Hyrum's was a Minecraft robot and he was very proud of his creation.
On Tuesday morning I took all three kids with me to Abraham's parent teacher conference. I had scheduled it first thing in the morning so Matthew could attend, but he ended up having an early meeting and wasn't able to go after all. Abraham's teacher said he is a joy to have in class and exceeds expectations in all areas except picking up after himself. When we were done with the conference, we dropped Hyrum off at school, went grocery shopping, dropped off our groceries at home, took Abraham back to school, went to the bank, came home for lunch, picked up Abraham from school, and then came home to recover from such a busy morning.
Wednesday morning Mercy and I attended Abraham's end of year class party and preschool graduation. I was under the impression that it was just a pot luck lunch and some games, apparently missing the memo that it was a "graduation," so we arrived in every day clothes while all of his classmates and most of their parents were dressed up. Abraham participated in the little ceremony, then we ate lunch with all the other pre-k classes. There were some games and other activities, but Abraham said his tummy was hurting, so we left early. In hind sight, I don't know that Abraham really needed to attend preschool, but I think for the most part he enjoyed it and taking everything into account, I'm not sorry we did it. I will fully admit however that I'm thrilled it's coming to an end. Having my day broken up into two hour chunks has been rather annoying, especially taking into account Mercy's temperament and erratic napping habits. It's another season coming to a close though, and I'm doing my best to soak in every minute of it.
I was able to go visiting teaching Wednesday evening to see a dear, sweet sister who has recently come back to church after nearly a year of inactivity. It was such a blessing to visit with her in her home and feel the spirit of someone doing their best to get back on track. Thursday I spent sewing and cleaning and getting things ready for the boys to go camping. Matthew had today off and he spent the morning checking out a crew cab truck we were thinking of buying. It turned out not to be the vehicle for us. I took Abraham and Mercy to Sprouts and Trader Joe's with me to pick up some produce and specialty items I need for the baby shower I am hosting tomorrow. Matthew and the boys headed off to the Stake father's and son's camp out around 5:00 and Mercy and I started our girls weekend. I let Mercy eat her fill of pretzels and blueberries for dinner while watching Caillou. I talked on the phone with Naomi while coating my truffles in chocolate and finishing up a batch of candied nuts. I let Mercy have a slumber party in my bed, which means it will be a long night and an early morning, but she was so sad to be left behind that I wanted to do something to make her evening at home with Mom special.
