Saturday Snapshots

We, with the Buras girls in tow, headed off to Tingley Beach at 8:30 am. Matthew set the kids up fishing while Mercy and I took the bike trailer out for it's inaugural ride. Despite feeling a bit left out of the excitement going on back at the ponds, Mercy seemed to rather enjoy herself. The blustry wind and added 40 lbs gave me quite the work out and it was fun to hear Mercy's cute little chatter while I peddled. We rode about an hour and considering I wasn't really pushing myself, I was pleased with my 10 mph pace.

The kids were all being pretty wild and disobedient, so after an attempt at relocating, I ended up leaving Matthew at the lake and taking everyone else home. After the girls got picked up, we went back to Tingley Beach and stayed there fishing from noon until just after 3:00 pm. Matthew got pretty sun burned and despite the 6.5 hours with his line in the water, we didn't get a single bite. We didn't go home empty handed though. A guy gave us a tiny little trout, which was all he caught and didn't feel it was worth the effort to clean and cook. At first Mercy was absolutely distraught at the idea of cutting it up and cooking it, but once it was fried and on the plate, she dug in with the rest of us and declared that eating fish is delicious.

In the evening we went to look at a crew cab truck we are considering buying, and then I went off to dessert night at Flying Star while Matthew put everyone to bed.
