Wonderful Weekend

First thing Friday morning Matthew took the kids over to Hyrum's school where two hot air balloons were being launched to kick off Balloon Fiesta. Hannah picked me up half an hour later and we drove over to the East side of Albuquerque for a bike ride. We met up with Clara, Rachael, and Stacey at Stacey's house. We rode down Tramway, turned East on Central and rode along old route 66 for 9.3 miles through the mountains to Tijeras. The ride is called The Reaper and it was brutal. the return ride down the mountain was fun, but then we had to go back up Tramway and the hill leading to Stacey's house. My legs flat gave out on me and I had to get off and walk for a few minutes before I could get back on and finish the last few blocks. Hannah dropped me off and I joined Matthew at the home of a woman adopting three siblings born to drug addicts. She's getting the kids next week and we donated a bunch of clothes, toys, a crib, and a toddler bed, and helped her set some things up. Matthew got me a burger and fries afterwards, then went to pick up Abraham while I took a much needed shower. In the afternoon I cleaned up and organized the sewing room and quickly made some burp clothes while Matthew worked on painting his D&D guys. After dinner I picked up Mindy and we met several friends at Flying Star for Leslie's baby shower. I got home around 10:30.

I went grocery shopping first thing Saturday morning, got the kids set up playing on pbskids.org, then settled down to quilt while listening to General Conference. Matthew listened while cleaning in the garage. We had lunch and the Brown's stopped by for a bit in between sessions, then the afternoon was spent much the same as the morning. Hannah, Mindy, Ashley, and I met up at a park after supper to let the kids get some energy out, then I came home and put them to bed. I headed back out to Mindy's at 8:30 for a bit more girl time. I was tired though, so I only stayed about an hour. It was good to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Today has been spent watching General Conference and playing games with the kids. I love conference weekend, I love the start of Autumn, and I love spending time with family and friends. Sometimes I just can't believe how great my life is.
