While there was the usual grocery shopping, laundry, and keeping everyone fed, I spent the majority of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday quilting. The boys were on Fall break Thursday and Friday and since Matthew had accrued all kinds of flex time, he decided to take the days off as well. We had discussed the idea of maybe buying a new couch since we often lack adequate seating when company is over, so Matthew and Hyrum set off Thursday morning on a reconnaissance mission to learn all they could about living room furniture in Albuquerque. They were gone nearly eight hours. I was able to finish binding Sarah's baby blanket and start cleaning up for Tallie's baby shower. Matthew thought he had found a deal worth pursuing, so he went back out after the kids were in bed to pick up two love seats. The deal turned out to be a unavailable, and the store was unwilling to haggle, so he came home empty handed. I then left to deliver the finished quilt to Hannah, who was leaving in the morning to visit her sister in Arizona. I left her house three hours later, around 12:30 am. I don't do well with late nights, but I am grateful for a good friend that can make three hours feel like 30 minutes.
I spent today cooking and cleaning. Matthew worked in the garage for a few hours, then ran the carpet cleaner in the front room. While the carpet dried, we all went over to the Jolley's for hot dogs and games. Dave was working, but Mindy clobbered Matthew and I at Scrabble and the bigger boys all had fun watching. Abraham spent most of the evening playing alone in his friend's room, and Mercy and Riker went back and forth between bickering over toys and sitting in their Mama's laps. The kids all got to bed late, but it was nice to get out of the house for a bit and not think about everything on my to do list. Before we got to bed, Matthew used the wet vac to clean the tile floor and I blew up balloons and decorated. While I am rather exhausted, it's good to reach deadlines and get things done.
