Grandma and Grandpa J arrived Thursday evening. After getting the kids off to school on Friday morning, we drove out to our property to do some shooting. Matthew and Grandpa both shot at a target 100 yards away with the Savage Axis 308. It was too big for me and I was rather intimidated by it, so I waited for the Rugar 10/22 and a closer target. It was still a bit too big, but I enjoyed shooting it and was doing pretty well towards the end. Matthew also shot some clay pigeons with his dad's shotgun in preparation for dove hunting. Grandma J chose not to shoot at all. When the kids got home, we went to the Church Street Cafe for dinner. That night we rented and watched Avengers: Infinity War.
Matthew left early yesterday morning to go dove hunting with Jeb. Unfortunately it was really rainy and they gave up around 10:00. Matthew did get one though, which his first official harvest. He fried what little meat it gave and we all had a tiny bite. It was pretty good.
The boys went to karate, then Grandma and Hyrum did some jewelry making together. We went to Cabela's for free hot dogs and a kid's craft around lunch time. We mostly just hung out in the afternoon, though we did make it over to the school playground for a while in the evening. Grandma brought me a 15 lb box of peaches and I spent all the free time I had over the weekend blanching, peeling, slicing, and freezing fruit. After baths, I took Grandma, Hyrum, and Abraham to JoAnn's for a few things Grandma wanted to buy them.
Today we went to church and had smoked brisket. Grandma and Grandpa plan to leave first thing tomorrow morning, so it was a quick trip, but it was nice to see them.
