We got a great Labor Day deal on some French doors so as soon as my parents left this morning at 7:00 we put our work clothes on and started tearing out the old sliding back door. By 11:00 we had the new door installed, and before bedtime we had trim up and caulked. It went so smoothly and we are pleased with the new look. I, for one, am thrilled to be rid of the ugly, bulky tan curtains that came with the house (and were taken down before I could get a proper before picture).
We learned that cutting away stucco isn't nearly as scary as we thought it would be, and that we should have done it before tearing out the door frame. The trim covers the bits that fell out, so it didn't end up being too big a deal, but we know better now for any future endeavors.
