Happy Birthday Hyrum

Our big 6 year old woke up and found at his breakfast seat Ninja Turtle gummy pizzas and the paper cake that has sat on the table for every birthday since his Daddy was a boy.

He started out the day with sprinkle filled pancakes and fresh whipped cream. A little later in the morning we went to Chuck-e-Cheese for ice cream and games. Hyrum got 20 tokens and his siblings each got 5. The Chuck-e-Cheese in Salt Lake was smaller and less impressive than the one we had in Lafayette, so they burned through their tokens pretty quick and we weren't there a whole hour before everyone was ready to go.

We had pizza for lunch and then finally Hyrum got to open his presents.

He got a kid friendly digital camera from Grandma and Grandpa, a Guardians of the Galaxy watch from Uncle Wes, an Avengers puzzle from Abraham, and from Mom and Dad he got a set of snap circuits, some headphones, and Matthew's old cell phone (since Hyrum's got sent through the washing machine in the pocket of the coat Mercy threw up on). He was super please with all his gifts.

After playing with his new stuff for a while, Grandma and Grandpa took him to Smith's where several workers sang to him and gave him a banana split, followed by two free doughnuts.

By the time dinner rolled around, Hyrum was pretty full of ice cream and treats and had little interest in real food. He thought, however, that he might find some room for cake. Silly boy blew out his candles about three seconds into the Happy Birthday song, then only managed a bite or two of his piece.

Hyrum seemed to have a lot of fun celebrating his birthday in Utah. We are thankful for our firstborn, who is growing up into a fine boy. He can be very helpful to his parents and is learning a lot at school and in primary. We love our thoughtful boy and hope to see him continue to develop attributes of kindness and gratitude.

So is that cake one cake baked in a tube pan + a second cake baked in a tube pan that has been disassembled? Just wondering . . . it is neat
