It was snowing this morning as the boys were getting up; big, fat, pretty flakes that slowly drifted to the ground and actually stuck. Abraham woke up and exclaimed excitedly to the whole house It's Christmas! By ten o'clock the snow was all gone, but it was a lovely way to start the day.
I watched the Shaw boys in the morning while Ashley was at her ultrasound, then she took everyone over to her house so I could go to Hyrum's class party.
We made "gingerbread houses" by using frosting to stick graham crackers to a milk carton, then went to town decorating. Some of my favorite features of Hyrum's creation include the snowman whose head fell off and landed on top of the tree...
the tootsie roll sled with gummy Hyrum and gummy Abraham riding on top...
and the eyes and mouth on the back of the house, making it "a live house".
Hyrum was a good brother and shared the candy with his siblings.
Other signs of Christmas include the banner I made for a gift exchange party tomorrow night
and Matthew in our closet modifying Nerf guns. He got out his soldering station and electronics kit to rig up bigger, better, rechargeable batteries for the machine guns the four oldest Kress' are getting.

Julianne,
Your fireplace looks a lot like mine, but I don't have a two tone paint job. I have a gas fireplace, but it generates a whole lot of heat. Isabelle, the wee cat, likes to sleep on the mantel, partially tucked behind my antique clock.
