Decking the Halls

We got back from Utah on the 29th and life has been nothing but busy since. There are three weeks between the first of the month and when all my Christmas preparations need to be done. I've devoted week one primarily to getting the house organized and ready for guests, as my parents and sister arrive on the 19th.

On Sunday we set up the Christmas trees and pulled out the other holiday decorations. Throughout the week I've done a little each day to make our home cozy and festive.

On Monday I went grocery shopping then focused on unpacking from our trip and doing lots and lots of laundry. I also organized the master bedroom to make room for stuff from Jill's room (the other room that's part of the Jack & Jill suite that turned into a dumping ground for all the stuff we didn't know what to do with).

On Tuesday I emptied out Jill's room. The boxes of books got stacked neatly in our bedroom, some stuff went into closets, and everything else either found a proper home or got thrown away.

On Wednesday I caught up on the normal household chores.

On Thursday morning Abraham, Mercy, and I went to the fire station with a group in the ward that does a co-op preschool. Abraham was shy and timid, as he often is in settings such as this, and Mercy mostly wandered around smiling sweetly at the giant fire fighters. That evening we moved the computer and all the office stuff up to Jill's room. The smaller bedroom downstairs will become a dedicated guest room and Jill's room will become the office and sewing room.

On Friday I again worked on normal household maintenance.

This morning Matthew went to the Temple while I hung out with the kids, and this evening is the Ward Christmas party.
