Sore Eye and Sick Boy

My eye was bothering me on Friday morning. I think something must of gotten in it and I rubbed it wrong because it was irritated all that day, then I woke up Saturday morning with it so swollen, absolutely crusted shut, and hurting like you can't imagine. I asked Dave Jolley at the baptism that morning what he thought was wrong, and he guessed pink eye. I went with that assumption the rest of the day, but upon further investigation Sunday morning, I discovered what looked like a a cut, or almost a gouge. It wasn't oozing and my other eye hadn't become infected, which would have been expected had it been conjunctivitis, so I was pretty sure I somehow scratched it. It's been so painful and bothersome and has put me off my game all week, so finally today I had Mindy take me to the eye doctor. He didn't see any cuts, but rather thinks I had an allergic reaction to something. He also saw infection in both eyes. I got some prescription eye drops and after just one dose I'm already feeling better.

Unfortunately, I haven't been alone in my misery. Poor Abraham has caught the seven day virus and my suffering seems so minimal compared to his. This virus, we've learned, presents differently in everyone. Mercy's main symptoms were fever and congestion. Matthew had terrible diarrhea and painfully achy arms, and I had an upset stomach and sore throat. Abraham has outdone us all and seems to have every single flu like symptom you can think of. High fevers, body aches, stomach pains, bowel issues, sore throat, headache, and congestion. To add insult to injury, he also has developed a monstrous cold sore on his lip. The fever seems to have enhanced his night terrors and it took Matthew and I over five minutes to pull him out of a nightmare on Monday. Poor kid has been moaning and miserable for nearly four days straight, and sadly, he's probably got a couple more to go before he starts really feeling better.
