Field Trip to the Farm

Today I got to go on a field trip with the first graders to a small farm up in Corrales. I had four kids, including Mercy and Malia, in my little group. First we had an hour to get through the corn maze. There were markers throughout the maze that we were supposed to find, but after about half an hour the kids were done and just wanted to make it through to the pumpkin patch. At the end of the maze, the kids each got to pick out a pumpkin to keep.

Next we ate our packed lunches and ran around the lawn a bit. Then we got to go on a little hay ride around the farm past the corn fields and apple orchards, and ending where a few animals were kept. We saw a cow, some small llamas, two goats, and a donkey. We then got about an hour to run around and play. My group spent most of their time in the corn pit.

The weather was lovely, the company was delightful, and we were the only school there so it wasn't crowded or loud. All around it was the perfect day at the farm!
