Utah: Days 6-7

Matthew and Grandpa took the kids fishing on Thursday. They were gone from around 9am until about 3pm and came home with one catfish, caught by Mercy (who was, as usual, scared of it until it was in the process of being gutted). Grandma works in the temple on Thursday’s and had a couple of errands she wanted to run before her shift started, so she left for the day not long after those who went fishing. Sarah was at work all day, which gave me several hours all to myself. I did some laundry, some journaling, some reading, some napping, and I took a walk. It was lovely. We started watching Jurassic Park when the kids got home, but stopped about half way through for dinner and a trip to Loadstone park.

We woke the kids up early this morning so they could go fishing with Grandpa again. Grandma and I stayed home to make breakfast for when they returned and to pack lunches. The fishers got back around 9:00 and after a hearty meal, we all loaded back into the car and headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to hike to Donut Falls. It was a busy morning at the falls, but it was a great hike, exactly the kind I like most. We didn’t play in the water as much as we did at Bridal Veil and Mercy was equally disappointed about that and the fact that there weren't actual doughnuts in any way involved. When we were done with the falls, we drove up the road a bit and found a nature conservation trail that led to a lake where we thought we’d eat our lunch. We took a wrong turn at a fork in the trail though and ultimately decided to just eat at a small creek crossing.

I fell asleep for about 40 minutes when we got home and during that time everyone else left to go to Costco. I started packing while they were gone. We had a nice spaghetti dinner when they got back then finished watching Jurassic Park.
