It was pretty chilly when we went to bed Friday night and we worried we’d all freeze, but everyone ended up sleeping warm and getting as good a night’s rest as can be expected when camping. We got up this morning at about quarter to 7, packed up, and were on the road by 7:30 am. We stopped for breakfast in Moab, which is about an hour past Monticello, then pushed on to Salt Lake, arriving around 12:30. We loved everything about breaking up the drive by camping at the half way point and would definitely do it again. We had plenty of time to settle in and shower before the wedding and reception for Matthew’s cousin Alex. The ceremony was short and simple, then afterwards there were hot dogs and salads and an abundance of sweet treats that the kids overindulged themselves on. Nearly all the cousins were there, as well as many pseudo cousins that Matthew grew up with and hadn’t seen in a really long time. We were able to visit with many different people and are really glad we made it.
This morning we went to church with Grandma and Grandpa. As an extra bonus, we were able to see Brother and Sister Bueno, the parents of Matthew’s best friend from childhood. We were all in need of a bit of down time, so the afternoon was spent watching Legacy off an old VHS tape and playing with Lincoln Logs. After the kids were in bed, the adults played a couple rounds of Codenames.
