What a different month May turned out to be. I spent the first half of it busy with fun things like Uncle Wes' visit, a trip to the Temple, figuring out my new calling as Primary President, a girls night, and Mother's day. Abraham was having weekly Skype dates with Grandma Naomi and we were enjoying time outside.
I also spent the first half of the month expecting a new baby and looking forward to the end of my first trimester. That came to an abrupt halt at my doctor appointment on the 15th and the rest of the month went by in torrents of emotion, pain, and drug induced stupors. Friends and neighbors were so kind and helpful, and Matthew held things together while I spent most of a two week stretch in bed. I'm not entirely sure what the kids were up to most of that time, but I'm pretty sure they did their fair share of watching TV, playing with Lego's, and making nests out of blankets in every corner of the house. The absence of my attention was hardest on Mercy, and since I've returned by degrees to my regular responsibilities, she's been an especially persistent companion.
Other events of note that happened while I was miscarrying include Hyrum finishing Kindergarten,
and Matthew buying and fixing up a 1998 Ford Ranger. He paid $1,300 for it, then repaired the head gasket and the air conditioning. The boys have loved going on rides with their dad and are sad when Mom drives because it means riding in the boring old van.
We finished off the month at a ward BBQ, where the primary presidency was asked to provide games for the kids. Matthew's Pack meeting (which he had to have someone else take over due to my emergency surgery) had been planned as yard games, so we already had everything we needed for a pool noodle obstacle course and hula hoop ring toss. We also brought the bounce house for the little kids, and both were lots of fun. Matthew set up his new popcorn machine and handed out candy, and as a whole I'd say it was a reasonable success.

Wow! Paying to have a head gasket repaired is expensive (we just did that a couple weeks ago). So nice he can do stuff like that!
