Raspberry Creme Tartelettes
Matthew put the idea of making a fruit tart in my mind when I told him berries were on sale. Unfortunately I don't have a tart pan. I asked around, but none of my friends had one either, so I decided to try making tartelettes in my mini muffin pan. The day I made them ended up being a bit chaotic so instead of homemade custard I made the filling out of box pudding and heavy cream, which actually turned out pretty good. The shells weren't as pretty as they would have been in a proper tart pan and the dough was a nightmare to work with, but they tasted really good; not too sweet or buttery. I topped them with fresh raspberries and brought them to girls night. Surprisingly, I thought the few that made it to the next day were actually superior. Overall, they turned out quite a bit better than I anticipated.
Berry Blitz Torte
Berry Blitz Torte
This was another dessert inspired by the weekly email Matthew gets from King Arthur Flour. It had a dense yellow cake layer, followed by a vanilla meringue, then pastry cream, fresh blueberries, then another cake/meringue layer. It was amazing.
Food Storage
I had some coupons expiring, so this month I stocked up on chocolate chips.
Projects
I made another attempt at sewing a dress for Mercy. I was super pleased with how it turned out and thought it would be fun to make me a matching one. I had a difficult time with the bodice part as I wasn't really working from a pattern, and I think the style is better suited for a child, but the project was a really fun and I learned a lot.

Hello!
I think the dress is cute on both of you - a significant improvement over the last dress you made for mini-me that I saw on your blog. Love you lots!
