Sunday: We had to wake Mercy up at 10:45 am in order to get to church on time. Everyone behaved reasonably well. Despite the little ones crawling on me during the Sacrament, I felt the love the Lord has for me so strongly and the gratitude I had for His atoning sacrifice welled up from deep inside me. I know that Jesus is my Savior and that the covenants I've made with Him are so real. Again Mercy did not fall asleep on the way home, but after some lunch, she did take a decent nap. We spent the afternoon/evening Skyping with both sets of grandparents, and then stayed up far too late looking at houses in Albuquerque.
Monday: We got a late start to the day, eating breakfast at nearly 11:00 am. Matthew spent all his time scraping paint off the kitchen cupboard doors. He did take a little break to run to the post office and stop by Meijer for hamburger buns and strawberries. I did lots of laundry and worked on picking up and packing. From what we understand, a company will come pack our house for the move. There are, however, a bunch of partially packed boxes piled in corners that I want to get out of my way, so I'm taping them up and sending them to the storage unit. For Family Night I gave a lesson on how we should treat our bodies, Hyrum chose green Jello for the treat, and Matthew picked an episode of Avengers to watch for the activity. Whenever a show is the activity, Mercy and I inevitably end up playing in the boys' room instead since she just has no interest in TV and quickly becomes an annoyance. It's okay with me though, because it usually means I can sneak away with her and read for 20 minutes.
Tuesday: Mercy was up at 7:00 am, but the menfolk all slept in, so she and I hung out together in her bedroom for a couple of hours. Around 9:00 she curled up in my lap and fell back asleep. I managed to sneak out just as the boys were waking up. I spent most of the day doing my chores and wrangling the kids. During nap time I did the weekly yard work. I attempted to use the motorized trimmer, but it was just too big and unwieldy for me. Matthew finished scraping and started sanding. Kroger had a sale + catalina coupon deal where we could get pints of Private Selection ice cream for .83 cents each, so Mercy and I went to the store and picked out six different flavors. We decided to have a mid-week family date night and watch a show while eating our treat. We watched the Phineas and Ferb movie, which we all enjoyed, then the kids and I went to bed and Matthew went back to work in the garage.
Wednesday: Another day of steadily getting stuff done. Matthew and I finished sanding the cupboard doors, then he spent the entire afternoon preparing to paint. In addition to the cupboard doors, he's doing the doors to the pantry, coat closet, and linen closet, as well as the front door and the door into the garage. He also took out the vanity in the downstairs bathroom to paint, as well as the risers for the stairs. Finally, after dinner, while the kids and I went for a walk, he starting spraying the primer. It didn't go especially well, but he did manage to get everything primed and was in bed around 1:30 am. Since Matthew has been working indoors so much, he never conditioned his "summer skin". Poor guy got pretty sunburned today, it being the first time he's spent more than about 30 minutes outside at one time.
Thursday: The kids and I went to the fire station in the morning, then during Mercy's nap the boys watched Super Hero Squad while I sanded the downstairs bathroom walls. Matthew worked on finishing up priming all the doors, then he and I switched places and he did some patching and mudding in the bathroom while I did a light sanding of the doors. Matthew was then able to spray the first coat of paint. Mercy and I made another trip to Pay Less and stocked up on more ice cream. After scriptures and prayer, Matthew turned all the doors over and sprayed their undersides. We took a little break to let things dry, then he went back out at 11:00 pm for another round. Hyrum had fallen asleep for a while earlier in the afternoon, so he had a hard time going to bed and ended up sitting up with me while I edited pictures and blogged.
Friday: I'm pretty sure the most productive thing I did today was shower. I've got a summer cold, and the lead fuzz in my head made it next to impossible for me to function with any amount of real usefulness. I hung out with the kids on the bounce house and took a three hour nap after lunch. I managed to wake up in time to make it to a visiting teaching/play date at the park, so that at least got us out of the house for an hour. After the kids were in bed, I folded a load of laundry and put the handles back on a few drawers in the kitchen. Despite my lack of helpfulness, Matthew felt really good about his day's work. He finished painting everything and started putting doors back where they belong. I had gone to bed about 11:00 pm, but woke up two hours later and found Matthew still working. I helped him bring all the doors in from outside and clean up the yard. He wanted to mount everything before calling it a day, but I convinced him to take a shower and go to bed since it was nearly 3:00 am.
Saturday: I didn't feel 100% today, but I did feel better. The kids and I took a quick trip to the library as soon as it was open, mostly in an attempt to allow Matthew to sleep a little longer. The boys holed up in their room with their big bag of new books while I started some laundry and took Mercy to the grocery store. Matthew finished installing all the doors, so the afternoon was spent cleaning up a weeks worth of disorder. I also gave Matthew a hair cut and served a proper sit down dinner. The kids and I played soccer in the front yard while Matthew finished up a few things, then we all ate popcorn and watched wood working videos. We put the kids to bed at 9:00 pm and decided to take the rest of the night off.
