Yesterday, after karate, Matthew and I took Hyrum and Mercy to Guitar Center so they could get their brother a birthday present. They had at first decided to go in together and buy him a different type of drum sticks, but then they saw a taiko type drum they wanted to give him. It was more than they could really afford, so we went back and forth for a while debating how much we were willing to help them. We ended up getting the drum, then decided to stop by Music-go-Round which was just down the street to see if there were any better deals there. Hyrum found some drum sticks that he could afford all on his own, and Mercy decided she'd rather get him a box of candy instead, so we returned the drum and everyone felt better about the situation. By the time we got the return sorted out, we were running a bit late and needed to feed Mercy before dropping her off at Riker's birthday party. When the party was over, the boys and I walked over to collect her and all three ended up staying at the Jolley's for the rest of the afternoon. Matthew wasn't feeling well, so he took a nap, which is uncharacteristic of him.
Today, Matthew and I were out the door at 8:00 am. We drove and hour down to Belen to attend the Tome Spanish branch, where Matthew had a speaking assignment. I practiced conducting one of my choir songs in the car while he attended their bishopric and ward council meetings. All the practice he put into his talk paid off and it went well. After church, we had just enough time to stop by home for a few minutes to grab a quick bite to eat, then we headed over to our building for choir practice. After choir we had tithing settlement, then Matthew met with Bishop for a bit, then it was time for the Face to Face broadcast. The meeting explained more about the new children and youth program and answered a lot of Matthew's questions. Afterwards there was ice cream and cookies, then finally at 6:00 pm we headed home for the day.
