A Day for Everyone

Matthew worked last Friday so he could take today off with the kids. I wanted to go on an adventure but he was feeling behind on life and wanted to get some stuff done. We compromised and spent the morning at home cleaning up and working on a project in the garage.

Around 11:00 we packed lunches, put on warm clothes, and drove up to the mountains. We decided to head North along the Sandia Crest and covered not quite 5 miles in total. It was pretty chilly and all the animals must have already gone into hibernation mode because we only caught a glimpse of a single solitary squirrel. It was good to be in the woods and, as always, I'm glad we made the effort.

Just as we got back to the car, a thick mist came in and frosted the trees as it settled. The temperature dropped almost 20 degrees and the mountain began to look like a forest of flocked Christmas trees. It was eerie and magical and super cool.

On the way home we stopped by Music-go-Round and played on the drums, guitars, and pianos for a while. We stopped by Walmart for dinner, settling on taquitos and egg rolls, then went home to eat our food while watching a couple episodes of She-Ra. The day had something for everyone and it was a joy spending it together.
