Summer: Week 10

I substituted for the Relief Society teacher and lead the discussion at church on Sunday. Afterwards, we had a linger longer and I provided a paprika and cabbage pork stew.

Monday I started my weight training and crossed several small things off my to do list. Hyrum and I worked together to weed and clean up the back yard, and I went grocery shopping. Swim team and park lunch were fun and I'm glad we were able to participate all summer, but I was not sad this week to be done with them for a while. In the evening, we went on a family walk behind the school.

I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies first thing Tuesday morning, then we brought them with us to share with Malia and Ace, as they had invited us to go swimming with them. We played at their pool for a couple hours then in the evening Hyrum got to go with the young men and young women on a rock climbing activity. Matthew went to Jeb's house after bedtime to play games with Sterling.

Hyrum helped tend the Monson kids again on Wednesday morning. Abraham and Mercy made up an elaborate game and played together happily all morning. In the afternoon the four of us had our semi-annual cleaning at the dentist. Gold stars and zero cavities all around!

On Thursday morning I took the kids to Chuck E Cheese. Abraham has gone a month without a night time accident and we said we'd take him as a reward. It's been ages since we've been and things have changed. They gave us a card instead of tokens, but then the first machine we came across was one that gives you tokens off your card. The kids all got their 10 tokens, then proceeded into the arcade where they discovered that nearly all the machines use the card and don't take tokens at all. We were pretty confused, not to mention disappointed. Luckily for us, Haley, Olivia, and Kilian happened to show up with their grandma a few minutes after us and they all got cards with unlimited game play on them, so it ended up being a fun morning outing after all. In the afternoon, the kids were invited to play at the Jensen's for a couple hours. In the evening we got a pizza and watched Mary Poppins Returns, which we were severely disappointed with.

We had considered going camping or backpacking this weekend, but decided again to get some things done around the house. Matthew spent most of the weekend cleaning up the garage and was able to make a trip to the dump. It was the New Mexico tax free weekend, so I did a big shopping trip to get back to school supplies and stock up on school lunch components.
