We were able to sleep in some on Sunday and spent a relatively leisurely morning packing up and getting ready to go. We sang some songs to Dad and Grandpa and gave them some gifts to celebrate Father’s day, then went to noon Sacrament Meeting at Grandma and Grandpa’s ward. After changing clothes and saying our final goodbyes, we were off. It was definitely a quick trip for Matthew, as he was barely there for 36 hours, and it was certainly more work than vacation for the rest of us, but we were so blessed and grateful to have been there.
We drove about five hours down to Blanding and stayed the night at Ralph and Jacqueline’s house. Ralph gave us a tour of his boat and when Abraham saw there was a little bathroom on board, he decided he needed to use it. Of course it wasn’t in commission as the boat was in storage mode, so cleaning it up was inconvenient and neither Ralph nor Matthew was amused. Jacqueline, however, thought it was hilarious!
We drove the rest of the way home this morning without major incident. The kids were done with each other and squabbled more than usual, but we all endured and were happy to back home when we arrived. There wasn’t any easy food in the house since I’ve been gone for the last two weeks, so we ordered a pizza, rented Captain Marvel, and enjoyed a low key movie night which was exactly what we all needed.
