Thanksgiving

This morning all the boys loaded into the Highlander and went off to our property to do some shooting. All the girls stayed home to play games and finish preparing our feast. Mercy was in heaven with Carla's undivided attention.

After everyone returned from their morning adventures and before the rest of the family arrived, there was a nice quiet moment for naps and screens. The kids soaked up all the screen time they could, and their aunts and uncles with their laptops and phones were more than happy to indulge them.

My parents, as well as Jennifer and Ed, arrived around 2:30 pm, and Derrick and Steph got here not long after. We had every single member of our extended families here, including 3 significant others, for a total of 17 people. For dinner I served smoked turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread sausage and sage dressing, asparagus, fresh bread and fresh rolls, and holiday jello. For dessert we had sous vide flan and a store bought pumpkin pie. Other than the frozen pie, everything was made by hand from scratch and was all quite good. I loved having my house full of family and food!

Visiting and game playing took up the rest of the afternoon and evening. Grandma J brought a bunch of blocks she had knit and had Abraham design a blanket with them. At the end of the night, my family, as well as Derrick/Steph and Wes/Carla all went off to stay in Hotels. The day went so well and I am so grateful to say it was an absolutely successful and even lovely Thanksgiving.
