Great to be 8!

Today we celebrated eight years of Abraham!

He got to open one present first thing in the morning, an Incredibles board game, and Dad was able to play a round with the boys before heading off to work. Abraham chose oatmeal with sprinkles and a candle for his birthday breakfast.

The kids were able to play a few rounds of Abraham's new game before it was time to walk over to the school for parent teacher conferences. After we met with each of their teachers, they came home and played an hour of Minecraft. For lunch Hyrum got to tend to Mercy and make a meal for the both of them while Abraham and I went on a special date (though he wouldn't let me call it a date unless we were alone and there was no one else around who might hear). He chose to go to Sonic, so we sat in the big truck and chatted while he ate his cheeseburger, fries, and strawberry milkshake.

After lunch we found a Redbox to rent Incredibles 2, then we stopped by the library to check out a museum pass. The kids spent the rest of the afternoon watching their movie (twice). Grandma Naomi and Grandpa Kip arrived right around 5pm, just in time for Abraham's chosen birthday dinner: waffles with raspberries and whipped cream. For dessert he requested a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. Abraham agreed that the giant cupcake pan would be fun and chose green for the "wrapper" part. It looked nice, but after such a sweet dinner no one was really in the mood for cake.

After eating, Abraham was finally able to open the rest of his gifts (we had been waiting for Grandma and Grandpa). He got a bike, a board game, and a shooting target from Matthew and I. Hyrum got him a slingshot and Mercy got him some plastic animals to "hunt." His Kress grandparents got him a laser tag package, which included 4 guns and 4 wearable targets. The rest of the evening was spent trying to shoot each other. He told me several times that it was the best birthday ever and I believe he felt recognized and loved. We sure love our Abraham!
