Saturday Snapshots

We spent the entire morning at a swim meet. Hyrum wasn't quite as excited this time, but Abraham really wanted to try and since it'll be Hyrum's last opportunity this summer, we decided to dedicate our morning to it. Abraham swam the backstroke in the 8 and under 4 man 25m relay, the 25m backstroke, the 25m breaststroke, and the 50m freestyle. He got confused at the start of the relay, which rattled him a bit, but he rallied well and maintained a reasonable level of enthusiasm throughout the meet. He came in last place in every race. Hyrum, who disappeared before I could get a picture, swam the 9/10 year old 25m backstroke, the 50m breaststroke, and the 50m freestyle. They had him lined up to swim in the same relay as Abraham, but he convinced them at the very last moment that he was 9 and shouldn't be in the race. He came in second to last in the backstroke and was last place by a lot in his other two races. He didn't seem to have quite as much fun this time, though I'm hoping his lack of enthusiasm was mostly due to getting woken up mere minutes before we had to leave and not having any breakfast until after warm-ups.

After the meet and lunch, Matthew left for a training meeting as part of this weekend's Stake Conference. While he was gone, Hyrum finished his chores and walked over to Mirehaven to see which of his friends could play. He ended up at the Jolley's for most of the afternoon. Abraham and Mercy helped me get the upstairs ready to be vacuumed and cleaned all the bathrooms except mine. I thanked them by agreeing to sit outside with them while they went swimming.
