As part of Matthew's new stake calling, attending ward conferences is one of his new responsibilities. This past Sunday he participated in Sage Ward's conference. It was a good one to start with because they meet in the same building as us so he didn't have to travel. He left at 8:30 am and I was on single parent church duty, which actually wasn't so bad. There is something to be said for kids who can dress themselves and are old enough to be reasonably well behaved during Sacrament Meeting. During church I substitute taught the CTR 6 class. After church, at 4:30, I had a girls camp meeting down at the stake center. While I was gone, Matthew took the kids over to Jeb's to smoke all the fish they caught.
Monday was the big end of school party day. I dropped Mercy off at the Jolley's at 10:00 then stopped by Walmart to buy some cookies because I never found the time to make them. Abraham's party was from 10:30-12:30 and Mercy's was from 12:00- 1:30. It was a whirlwind day, but fun to see the kids and celebrate the end of the school year with them. Monday was Mercy's last day. In the afternoon we had a super intense rain storm. It was the first notable precipitation we've had in 52 days. The sky opened up and dumped buckets for about 20 minutes, then almost as fast as it came, the sun came out and all the water was gone. Hopefully next time we get something more slow and steady that will actually have a chance to soak in and do some good. For the family night treat, Abraham choose smoked trout, which was delicious and an excellent choice.
Mercy and I went grocery shopping on Tuesday morning, then I dropped her off at the Jolley's while I went home to put away our food and take my walk. I went back to Mindy's about an hour later and finished watching a movie with her. Hyrum came home from school worn out and feeling a bit ill, so Tuesday ended up being his last day of school. In the evening I went to Book Club. We read The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.
Hyrum and Mercy played on Wednesday morning while I cleaned bathrooms and Abraham went to his last day (morning) of school. We had made plans to meet up with the Jensen's at A Park Above, but got word that Esther had thrown up and was sick, so those plans got canceled. Matthew had a stake youth activity down at the stake center that he went to straight from work, so dinner was simple and in the evening I took the kids to Pack Meeting. Riker was also sick and throwing up, so we swung by to pick up Harry and Scott for scouts.
The stomach bug that only hit one person in the Jensen and Jolley homes hit everyone except Matthew in our house and our first official day off school was spent laying around and taking turns in the bathroom. Abraham aptly commented that, "summer break isn't as much fun as I thought it would be!"
This morning we were all feeling notably better. Matthew has some major projects with deadlines coming up next week, so he had to go in to work even though it is his Friday off. The kids spent the morning playing Minecraft, then we all went over to the Jensen's for a couple hours in the afternoon. Dad came home at a reasonable time and made homemade pizzas for us to eat while watching Black Panther.
