October

October turned out to be just as busy as we anticipated, and probably even more fun than we thought. It started out with General Conference, which is always great. The first week of the month we played with the Richardson's twice, fed the missionaries, and saw hot air balloons at the boys' school.

Jennie and her kids visited us the second weekend of October. We went to Balloon Fiesta, the Park Above, and Explora and everyone got along great.

Matthew was out of town at Reapercon for most of the third week. It was a rough week, but I managed alright by sending the kids outside to play as much as possible. I love that here in New Mexico we can comfortably wear shorts and t-shirts in the middle of October! And despite not loving the half of my back yard that's covered in weeds, I do love that a partially unfinished yard means unlimited hole digging and random structure building for the kids.

The end of the month brought Grandma J and Jennifer, as well as Halloween festivities. The kids spent hours and hours playing dress up with all the treasures they found in the costume bucket. I was a little surprised that when it came down to it, Abraham didn't decide to be Groot. He wore the costume every minute he could for several days in a row.

We of course did all the regular activities, like cub scouts and book clubs, and I taught Sharing Time all month in primary. I tended Rhett and Jackson Wilson before and after school one day, and Micah and Riker both came over to play on various occasions. I went on a field trip with Mercy and volunteered in Abraham's class. I also attended the APS school choice fair and as a result got in contact with the principle of the new school, learning that we are indeed zoned to attend when it opens next year. All in all, it was a good month. Autumn is definitely in the air and we are doing all we can to embrace this time of year!
