Week in Review

On Monday Hyrum and Abraham had their first eye exams. Abraham often complains that his vision is blurry and he seems to have a hard time figuring out where to hold a book in order to focus on the page. The kids were fascinated by all the different equipment and were not especially well behaved, but we did learn that both boys have healthy eyes. Hyrum has perfect vision and while Abraham has a slight prescription, it's not bad enough yet to need glasses. After the eye doctor we went to lunch at the Purple Park. Mindy and Riker came over for about an hour after that. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing laundry and looking for deals on school uniform clothes. That evening we had dinner and FHE at the Jolley's.

Riker came over on Tuesday morning. I spent most of the day doing chores and catching up on the blog. That evening Matthew ran some wires and installed three new ceiling lights as part of the front room remodel.

Matthew left Wednesday morning for a conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The rest of us went to Sprouts, then lunch at the Purple Park. Becky offered to have the kids over that afternoon. While they were at their play date, I went to Smith's and Walmart, ate some lunch, and took a 20 minute nap. There were half price shakes and slushies at Sonic, so we stopped by for a late afternoon treat. That evening we had our monthly cub scout Pack Meeting at a park near the church. There was a respectable turn out and the games were really well planned and executed. I think everyone had a good time.

It had rained during the night and the sky was overcast so I took advantage of the soft ground and cooler weather to do some weeding in the back yard on Thursday morning. We went to lunch at the Purple Park, where my visiting teacher met us and we had a lovely time talking together. That evening we took a walk up towards the new baseball stadium that's being built. Monsoon season brings fantastic cloud formations, cooler weather, and rainbows. The boys rode bikes and scooters and while the climb up the hill wasn't much fun, they sure loved riding back down!

We spent Friday morning picking up the house and cleaning, then went to park lunch. Park West is closer to us, but we love Ms. Rhonda who runs lunch at the Purple Park so we've tried to split our visits fairly evenly between the two sites. Today was Ms. Rhonda's last for the summer, so we've favored her park this past week and will finish out the summer at Park West next week. The Jensen kids came over for several hours in the afternoon, and the kids got to watch some shows before bed.

Today was mostly spent doing chores and playing video games. After lunch the kids asked to repeat the fun walk we had Thursday evening. They didn't take into account however that it was the middle of the day and the sun was shining bright. The boys walked their wheels half way up the hill then decided it was too hot and turned around before Mercy and I even caught up to them. None of us were sad to get back inside our air conditioned house. That evening we spent a little while at the Mirehaven park, then I dropped the kids off at the Jensen's for Daniel to watch while Becky and I carpooled to a Relief Society potluck dinner. There was a good turn out and it was fun to get to know some of the new sisters in the ward. After getting the kids in bed, I stayed up late working on a review game for our 5th Sunday sharing time.

All in all, the kids have behaved extremely well this week while their Dad's been gone. Hyrum has been particularly helpful and for the most part they've all been a joy to be around. I never sleep well though when Matthew's away and the kids are itching for some wrestle mania, so we're all looking forward to Dad's return tomorrow.
