Utah: Day 7 and Travel

Mercy had a rough time Thursday night. She whined and cried in her sleep, making it difficult for Matthew and I to get much rest. Grandma served us sweet rolls and sausage for breakfast yesterday morning, then Hyrum and Mercy played Pokemon style battles between stuffed animals. Abraham slept in past 8:00. Grandpa went to work and Sarah was still pretty sick. Grandma took the kids to Loadstone Park by herself because Matthew still wasn’t feeling great and I woke up feeling ill. I showered and started getting organized to leave. When the kids got home we ate popsicles on the patio then spent the next several hours bumming around. I worked on laundry and packing, the kids all got bathed, Hyrum played Zelda, Mercy took a nap, and Matthew researched firecrackers. We had leftovers for lunch and Wes came by to visit for about half an hour. Our last meal was noodles Alfredo and rolls, then while Grandma and I cleaned up and visited, everyone else watched a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie. On the whole, it was a pretty anticlimactic day. Hopefully next time we visit Utah, we leave all viruses behind!

We got the car mostly packed last night, so this morning we were able to just get up and go. It's always sad to say goodbye, but after a week of being sick in someone else's house, we were all feeling ready to be home. We were on the road by 6:30 and had another uneventful day of travel. We stopped to stretch and have some food at the rest stop outside of Moab, but otherwise we drove straight through. We held off on the tablets until Shiprock, which worked out well, and the kids were great. Even though Matthew was still feeling pretty bad, I was feeling worse, so he drove the whole way while I mostly dozed. We hit a lot of traffic due to construction between Gallop and Albuquerque, but still managed to be home before 6:00 pm.
