We're half way through the semester and counting down to the Holiday Season. I know I say it every month, but seriously, this year is flying by so fast! October seems to have passed by me in a haze. There was General Conference, Fall Break, and then my mom and sister came for a visit. It was my month to do sharing time in Primary, which I love, and we've been working hard practicing our songs for the primary program coming up. There's been the regular visiting teaching, book clubs, D&D, and ward council, in addition to a baby shower, pot luck game night, and trunk or treating. Matthew has played hours and hours and hours of Ultima Online. We've had our share of illness, though none of it has been too terrible to bear and has mostly just meant seeing a bit more of each other than we usually do.

I've done so much sewing and have completed three quilts with two more in the works. Matthew was working on two end table book shelves for the guest room, but they weren't turning out as well as he'd have liked so he only finished one.

After just about two straight weeks of video gaming, Matthew decided he needed to maybe work on something more productive and has spent some time cleaning up the garage. As part of that endeavor, we moved a number of non wood working tools to the back porch to spend the winter under a tarp. Next year we plan to improve the back yard further with a shed, more paving stones, and possibly a bigger pool.

And of course the month is finishing up with Halloween. This year we had Groot, Super Abraham, and a princess. I dressed up as a Honduran girl for the trunk or treat and Matthew was his usual generic medieval guy, but this year he made a wooden sword to add to the effect. All three kids were sick today with coughs and congestion and the boys stayed home from school. Matthew took the kids around the block, but they didn't do a full night of trick or treating. We handed out giant pixie stix and then some left over cheapo candy that we had bought for the trunk or treat when those ran out. We guess that we got about 120 trick or treaters at our door, which isn't as many as last year, but still a pretty decent turn out.
