April

Wow, April was a busy month! We started it off with Hyrum's spring break, General Conference, and Easter. Then there was Mercy's birthday followed just two days later by the baby shower I threw for our neighbor. The following week was full of appointments: a doctor appointment, visiting teaching appointments, and a preschool tour appointment. The next week I spent a lot of time in bed not feeling well, though we did manage to have some friends over for play group. In between all the scheduled events, Mercy decided to start potty training, Hyrum went on a field trip to the Aquarium/Dion's Pizza and lost another tooth, and Abraham spent hours and hours not cleaning his room. And now here we are, the end of another month.

Abraham at Explora. He built this pvc pipe structure all on his own. I was amazed at how long this activity held his attention and was impressed with how well he figured out how the different pieces fit together. He was also very pleased with himself and his creation.

Mercy just keeps growing and learning, leaving her baby days behind her and turning into a proper big girl. Her profile page has been updated.

Matthew has spent a lot of time in the garage this month. I asked him if he could put together some bookshelves for the boys, which, like giving a mouse a cookie, led to a series of seemingly unrelated projects. He put some shelves up on the other side of the garage to hold long pieces of lumber like planks and 2x4's, then built this hinged cart for sheet goods. He is currently working on a miter saw station which includes 14 feet of work bench, cupboards, and drawers. Once that's done and the storage units are utilized, he'll need to re-build some sleds for the table saw and then maybe he'll actually be in the position to make some furniture. Setting up shop is quite the undertaking.

Matthew originally planned this month's Pack meeting as a campfire, but the weather had been either really rainy or really windy, so a couple days before he preemptively decided to go with his backup and do a paper airplane flying contest instead. The night of the activity turned out to be absolutely beautiful and just perfect for a a fire, but we went ahead with the airplanes anyway. The boys all got really into it and everyone seemed to have a fun time. After the contest, the packs did a couple skits, then there were a ton of awards and advancements. We finished up right on time, everyone pitched in to help clean up, and we got home around 8:45 pm. All in all, it was another successful activity.
