Shark Boy

Hyrum's got a loose tooth. Unfortunately, it wasn't loose soon enough to make room for the adult teeth trying to replace it prematurely. Looks like orthodontics are definitely in this boy's future.

I can hardly believe my first born is old enough to be loosing teeth. There are so many things he is learning and stages he is going through. His sense of humor is definitely in the potty joke stage, where the punch line is always some seemingly random word (often related to fecal matter). Usually we don't find him very funny, but he thinks he's hilarious and can amuse himself endlessly with long drawn out stories that abruptly end with toot. Hyrum is my sensitive boy, who is touched deeply by sad scenes in movies or books. He physically cried when Groot got blown up in Gardians of the Galaxy and when Mufasa got trampled in the Lion King. He is afraid of the dark and doesn't like being alone. Despite his soft spots, Hyrum is our meanest, most selfish child. I pray daily for inspiration on how to teach him compassion. He still gives outrageous threats and ultimatums when things don't go his way, but he is doing better at taking care of his responsibilities without as much complaint. He is a crazy hoarder and goes so far as to walk around the house looking for odd bits of paper to stash away in the bottom drawer of his dresser. He has decided he's going to be an engineer when he grows up, because he wants to be a scientist that makes stuff. He is one of the best behaved children at church, and is actually a really good kid as long as his brother isn't around. He's been getting up early the past month, and the several minutes I have alone with him have become a special part of my day.
