March

The hole for the trampoline is coming along. Matthew had to take a break from digging for several days because while I was on the phone one day, the boys decided to turn on the hose and make themselves a moat. It took nearly a week to dry up!

Hyrum's wiggly tooth came out. It was actually so loose that we worried he might loose it in the night, or for sure at school the next day, so Mathew tied some floss around it and pulled it out. The tying of the floss was actually the most traumatic part of the whole experience. Hyrum was whimpering with fear and dread, but I'm pretty sure he didn't even notice when Matthew actually pulled the string. There was a little bit of blood, but not much, and then Hyrum was filled with joyful anticipation of the tooth fairy and the prospect of money under his pillow. It's a good thing that boy is a professional sleeper, because there is no other way we could have retrieved his tooth. Matthew practically had to pick him up. Hyrum was hoping for 300 pennies, but the tooth came out before I could make it to the bank, so he got a dollar in loose change. He was super excited about the baggie full of different coins though, and I think it met his expectations perfectly.

The 24th was the Cub Scout Pack meeting. Matthew was much more on top of things this time and I hardly had to do a thing. It was an activity focused on disability diversity awareness. The boys had to do things like button a shirt with one hand and toss bean bags into a bucket while blind folded. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we weren't the last to leave, which is a good sign that it didn't go too late. Our kids were really well behaved and had a fun time. Neither of the boys can wait until they get to be cub scouts.

That night I was startled awake at 3 am by a loud crashing noise. I checked on the kids and poked around downstairs, but didn't see anything wrong, so I assumed it must have been something outside. In the morning we discovered the boys' window was completely shattered. Someone must have thrown something or shot a pellet gun at it. Luckily only the outside pane was broken, so I didn't have to deal with glass shards in the bedroom. Still, it's a bit scary to have my house vandalized.

In other news, Hyrum caught the pox about a week after Abraham's spots appeared. I ended up going to church and teaching our primary class alone three weeks in a row.
