Another Long Weekend

Hyrum had another 4-day weekend, this one due to parent/teacher conferences. On Thursday I made him do his homework and asked the boys to help pick up the house. They pulled all their bedding into the loft and made a fort instead. Matthew came home early that afternoon and went with us to meet with Hyrum's teacher.

Friday it snowed and the roads were super icy. All Albuquerque schools ended up getting canceled, so he would have been home anyway. Abraham ventured out into the snow for a bit, but Hyrum was more interested in staying curled up in the tent we had set up in the front room watching shows on his phone.

Friday night Matthew had a Scouting training meeting to attend. He and Ryan carpooled, though this time Matthew drove. The roads were super icy and they ended up sliding into another car on Coors Blvd. No one was hurt and there was only a tiny bit of damage done to to other vehicle. He saw three more accidents while they were exchanging insurance information, and stayed to help a guy push his car out of a ditch. We found out later that there were over 300 accidents reported from sunset to midnight. He was pretty shaken up about the whole thing and since it was still snowing yesterday morning, he decided not to go to the second day of training either. It worked out well, since it meant he could be home with the kids while I went to a baby shower. The sun came out mid morning and the sidewalks were dry by the time I came home around 1:00. Matthew spent the day heating and oiling our new baking steel and was able to make us pizza for dinner that night. This long weekend certainly wasn't as action packed as the last one, but it was lovely and laid back, which is just what we needed.
