A Pox Upon Her

As I was getting her ready for bed on Friday night, I found Mercy covered in small red spots. They hadn't really reached her face yet, but they were all over her stomach, back, and extremities. She'd been congested and a bit grumpier than usual, but wasn't running a fever and the rash didn't seem to bother her at all, so we put her to bed and waited to see what would happen. Nothing happened. The spots stuck around for several days, getting worse on her face for a day or two, then gradually started to fade. I called the 24/7 nurse hotline and the lady I spoke with said she didn't have the symptoms to indicate chicken pox and didn't think she was likely contagious. We kept her home from church on Sunday anyway, just in case, but otherwise she's gone on as usual like nothing was wrong.

These pictures don't do the rash justice, and although you can barely see them, she really was covered head to toe. So weird!
