Wea Creek Orchard

Today we went to the Wea Creek apple orchard. It's about 5 miles south of Lafayette and was just lovely. The orchard has been owned by the same family for 9 generations and is full of Indian artifacts from hundreds of years ago. The owner took us on a tractor ride tour and told us all about growing peaches/apples and the history of the land. It was fascinating. Hyrum enjoyed riding on the wagon, but Abraham was terrified and I only got him on by handing Mercy over to a friend and holding him on my lap. He warmed up to the experience though when the owner gave out samples of the budding apples. After the wagon ride, the kids got to run around the grounds and explore the barn. There were samples of fruit jams, salsas, and butters, as well as honey and apple cider. It was all so delicious. The boys ended up having a great time, and since we were one of the last families to leave, we ended up getting to take home the sample jar of peach salsa. Yum!
