Back to Normal

Hyrum had been asking every morning all break if "today is a school day" so he was pretty thrilled to be going back to preschool today. After we dropped him off, we took Matthew to the BMV to get the scooter licensed. The title is officially in our name and the vehicle is properly registered, licensed, and insured. Matthew has his learners permit (he can't get the real deal until April) and he has successfully gotten the thing to start three times in a row. Too bad he can't park it anywhere near Purdue nor can he drive it at night. His helmet is pretty awesome though, and the boys have loved trying it on.

After taking Matthew to school, Abraham and I went to the grocery store where I had a WIC check for produce I planned to use. The cashier and I were both very impressed when my selections added up to exactly the $10 on the check. I'm usually pretty close, but have never been spot on and it totally made my morning. We spent the rest of our Hyrum-free time playing with Lego's and creating January's meal calendar (better late than never I say). We picked up Hyrum, ate lunch, Braums napped while Hyrum watched his show and I sewed. The boys then played while I worked on laundry and dishes and dinner, Matthew came home, we ate, everyone got hair cuts, there was some wrestling and some scripture reading done, the boys went to bed, and Matthew and I watched an episode of Mythbusters before going to bed ourselves. It's a little hard to swallow that the holiday's are over and just like that life is back to "normal."

My mom got sick while she was here last week, and asked Matthew for a blessing. Hyrum watched the whole process intently, taking it all in. Over the weekend He was feeling a bit ill and on Saturday night went to his Father and asked for a blessing, just like he had seen his Grandma do. He explained to me that Daddy had the power and a blessing would make him feel better. He sat very reverently while Matthew gave him a blessing of comfort. Today at dinner he was telling us how he's not sick any more and is feeling good because Dad gave him a blessing. I am so grateful for opportunities to teach my children the Gospel and am pleased that they are learning and applying principles that will help them progress and bring them lasting happiness.

After all these years of teaching Sunday School it still amazes me when I see young kids asimilate profound spiritual concepts
:)
