There must be a rule somewhere in the Grandma Handbook that states one must bring presents when visiting. Neither of my children's grandma's have ever disappointed on this count (not that we expect anything more than hugs and kisses and time to cuddle). My mother's most recent visit brought with it a pirate ship that you fill with water. Considering neither of my boys particularly like sitting down in a swimming pool and would instead rather use an old juice bottle to empty it, this is the perfect summer toy. They have both really enjoyed it, though Abraham still tends to migrate towards a patch of dirt whenever possible.

I'm glad it was a hit. I seem to remember you kids liking to play with water and containers too.
Julianne,
Buy gifts! That's what relatives do! I don't think any relative ever came to my house without a surprise of some sort. I don't go home often, but I send surprises to Maddie about once a month.
