Project "New Floors": Day 11

The original plan assumed we'd be done by Saturday and Matthew's family would then leave on Sunday. However, the weekend came and we were nowhere near having the house in a livable state, so Matthew's parents generously offered to stay a few more days to help us finish things up. A day of rest on the Sabbath and some cooler weather has done wonders and we've made some good progress.
We had some plumbing issues, but a new toilet, a new spigot, and some new pipes seem to have resolved them. The living room floor should be back down by the time everyone goes to bed tonight.

We're putting in a "floating" tile floor, using a system of trays (mostly because they were free after rebate at Menards). We've got most of the tile laid and will be able to start grouting tomorrow.

I also washed Matthew's work clothes in a bucket. I'd say it was in honor of Pioneer Day, but really it was out of necessity since my washer and dryer are sitting in the garage next to my oven and refrigerator.

I'm so glad things are progressing so well. Thsnk you so much to Matthew's parents. They are amazing. You all have learned a lot you probably never thought you would, but that is not so bad a thing.

Oh my goodness! A couple of years ago, my cousin who lives between Detroit and Ann Arbor had a sewer pipe explode in the lower level of their house and they had to redo everything on the lower level. Your situation reminds me of that.
