Baby Abraham is doing very well. We got stuck behind a terrible crash on the way to the hospital and had to sit on I-65 for nearly two hours, making us an hour and a half late for our appointment. They were very understanding and got us going remarkably quick. The actual surgery part took about 10 minutes. I watched a segment of a cooking show then went to the restroom. When I came out of the bathroom the nurse was looking for me to report that all had gone well. About five minutes later he was awake and wanting to nurse. We were in and out of the hospital in three and a half hours and my sweet boy slept soundly all the way home.
His incision is held together by a few stitches and some glue, both of which will dissolve, and he has kept his bandages on very well. We have a follow-up appointment next week.

In other news, we had a very enjoyable 4th of July. The majority of it was spent in the yard: playing in the pool, lounging on the hammock, and making rocket engines. Fireworks are legal here in Indiana and several of our neighbors gave us a great show. My Grandpa is in town and we will be joined by my parents who have been attending a conference in Chicago, so we'll repay the neighborhood with our own fireworks show tomorrow night.
Our neighborhood is a series of cul-de-sac's and there were people in the three circles around us shooting off fireworks. As I sat in the near dark listening to great booms and bangs in surround sound, I was nearly overwhelmed by how terrible being in the midst of a battle would be. I am so grateful for those who fought for our country's freedom and independence, and those who have and continue to fight to protect America and the rights we enjoy.
