Highlights from this week:
Near the beginning of February, the kids got grounded from their Lego's for the rest of the month. They had been sent upstairs to get ready for bed and well past bedtime later, we found they had been playing their Lego game instead. Abraham and Mercy had been counting down the days until they got them back, and the moment school was over on the first, the loft once again became a Lego minefield.
After nearly six months, I finally got my chipped tooth filled down.
I made homemade lasagna with homemade ricotta cheese made from whey made from homemade yogurt.
Matthew had purchased a used full size drum kit for Abraham from Music-go-round, but when he got it home and set up, found it was not really all that great. Only a day or two later he was able to buy a much better set from a guy off Craigslist, so this week we returned the fist set to the second hand shop. Abraham has been rocking up a storm, and it's not even annoying because the boy is honestly pretty good.
We caught a rabbit in the trap at the Jolley's. Mabel is getting much better at chasing and catching the bunnies, but worse at relinquishing them once they're down.
With the weather warming up, the kids have been really missing the trampoline (which ripped down the middle back at the very beginning of the year when all three kids plus Sarah, Austin, and the dog were on it). They agreed to an early family Christmas present and we purchased a new trampoline from Sam's Club. This one has a basketball hoop, which has lead to a new game called wrestle ball and is now their favorite pastime.
Dad took the main computer and went over to Jeb's to play Fortnight...twice.
I started a new training program on the bike. It's an 8 week grand fondo plan, which includes long rides on the weekend. I also learned that Matthew secretly increased my FTP. He thought that the 127 I got after my FTP test about a month ago was far too low, so he raised it to 140 where he thought it should be. I didn't even notice, so I guess he was right. The first ride of the program was to see if my FTP was set appropriately, and I felt it should probably be a little higher, so I'm now riding at 145, which is definitely right at my limit. It is good for me to have a program to follow and I hope I can really put in the work and make some solid gains.
Susan gave us three dozen fresh eggs from their chickens and one morning we enjoyed a breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon under the pavilion. We are all happy to be enjoying the spring weather.
