Happy New Year!

This is the first time all of us stayed up to ring in the new year. Yesterday was a fairly normal day, filled with things like laundry, music, playing with Mabel, working in the garage, video games, and an epic Nerf battle that involved an impressive fort in the loft. We had homemade sausages and pasta for dinner, and finished the last few episodes of Inhumans, a Marvel spin-off. Around 9:00 pm I rode my bike while Abraham did a run on Zwift. We played a couple rounds of a new board game we got for Christmas, Indigo, then made milkshakes. We started a cheesy Disney channel movie to get us through the last 90 minutes until midnight. At 11:59 we paused our movie, did a countdown and cheered, then finished the last 15 minutes of our show. Everyone then happily made their way to bed. Mercy's assessment of the event sums it up pretty accurately: well, that wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. I'm really not a night person, and after all the celebrations we have in December, it's hard for me to drum up a lot of enthusiasm for New Year's. I don't think our lack of shenanigans is any indication of how great 2021 will be though. I have every expectation that we will make it as great, or even better, than the past year was!

Today, we slept in until 9:00 am and the kids had a lazy morning while I rode 35 miles on the trainer. In the afternoon we took Mabel for a walk and then played Dragon Quest for a good long while. It was a pretty laid back, perfect way to continue our winter break.
