Hyrum and Abraham each did the majority of the work on their cars this year. Matthew helped a bit with the wheels and the melting of metal, but the boys designed, drilled, sanded, and painted their cars. Mercy helped some with the design and painting, but Dad had a much bigger hand in the construction of her car.
This year the cub scout derby was combined with the ward races. While we weren't the ones to set up the track this time, for the third year in a row, Matthew and I weighed and registered cars and ran the software. Each year we get more organized and better at it, and this time everything went about as smooth as possible. The scouts had their own heats, then there was a ward cheater league and a ward regulation league. Hyrum and Abraham came in first and second, respectively, in the cub race, and Mercy tied Bishop Johnson's undefeated Ice Cream Truck in the cheater league. It was an exciting night for the Kress kids.
