Scott Jolley's baptism was Sunday evening at 6:00 pm. Around 4:30 Mercy claimed she wasn't feeling good and went upstairs to lay down. When it came time to leave for the baptism, she was fast asleep, so Matthew stayed home with her and just the boys and I went. Mercy woke up while we were gone, but by bed time she was hot with fever and had no problem going back to sleep.
Monday morning she was still feverish and had a very runny nose and a barking wet cough, so the choice to keep her home from school was an easy one. Her fever was gone on Tuesday, but she was still lethargic and had the cough and congestion, so I decided to keep her home again.
Wednesday was her early day and she woke up chipper and eager to go to school, so we got her dressed and sent her and Riker off with Matthew, who does the early Wednesday drop off. Mindy picked them up and took them both to her house to play after school. As soon as the boys got home, we collected Mercy and met the Richardson's at A Park Above. It was a bit chilly and the weather was overcast and breezy, but armed with coats and running around, most of the kids seemed to handle the dreary day alright. Mercy, however, kept taking her coat off because she didn't like all the bulky layers. After 2.5 hours playing in 45 degree weather without a jacket, it was no wonder she was once again feverish and runny nosed that evening. Hyrum too started not feeling well Wednesday evening. He complained of a headache and went to lay down around 5:30. When it was time to leave for Cub Scout pack meeting at quarter to 7, he was still fast asleep. Needless to say, we skipped scouts and ate all the caramel popcorn I had made to contribute to the Blue and Gold banquet ourselves.
Mercy's cough had worsened Thursday morning and while she couldn't breathe out of it, her nose was perpetually running, so she stayed home once again. Hyrum said he had a stomachache, but decided he'd try going to school anyway. He made it through school, but got into his pajamas and lay down as soon as he got home.
Hyrum woke up to his alarm at 6:00 am this morning, but said his stomach still felt queasy so I told him to go back to bed. He was still asleep when it was time to go to school, so I sent Abraham off on his own and kept Hyrum home. Mercy slept in late as well and was still very congested so she stayed home one more day as well.

In other news, Matthew and I went on a group date with the Brown's and Jolley's (and Erik and Jeff who tagged along). We had dinner at Chipotle then saw Thor: Ragnarok at the dollar theater. We even hired a babysitter for probably the second or third time in our entire marriage. The kids loved having Cassidy tend them, but boy oh boy are sitters expensive. She cost more than our date!
