Week in Review

On Monday I blogged, went to Walmart, and spent quite a lot of time baking a chocolate cake for the Family Night treat.

On Tuesday afternoon I tended Micah, then all the Jensen kids stayed to play for a bit when they came to pick up their brother.

Wednesday morning Matthew and I took Mercy in for a development screening. Albuquerque Public Schools provides a free program to help kids with developmental delays. We're concerned about her rather unintelligible speech and a general assessment is the first step in the process of seeing if she could benefit from some intervention. She had high marks in every area except articulation, which we expected. She scored a 9% on the Fluharty - 2 assessment and has been referred for further testing. That afternoon the kids and I met the Jensen's at the Taylor Ranch Library park and played until Abraham said he had a stomach ache and expressed his need for a toilet. I met Jen Walz at the church after dinner to discuss decorations for the chili cook-off and talent show, and during the hour I was gone Abraham threw up four times. I consequently spent the night in his room providing comfort and ensuring any further vomit made it into a bucket.

I kept Abraham home from school on Thursday, and since Mercy was also starting to complain about her tummy, I kept her home as well. Over the course of the day Mercy developed a fever and I ended up spending that night in her room.

Abraham seemed much improved on Friday, so he went to school, but Mercy threw up in the morning so she stayed home another day. It was Matthew's day off and though his toe is feeling much better, he still didn't feel confident enough to get up on a ladder and work on the front room. He spent much of the day in the garage working on the CNC machine while I tended to Mercy. That night I went to a baby shower/dessert night at the Flying Star for Ashley and stayed out much later than I'm accustomed to.

There were some great sales at JoAnn Fabrics so I went Saturday morning to take advantage. I got several lengths of flannel in the hopes of getting some bigger blankets made for Matthew and the kids before winter sets in. I found I didn't have as much as I'd like of one of the fabrics so Mercy and I set out again Saturday afternoon to obtain more. She thought she was feeling better, but she fell asleep almost as soon as the car started and spent the rest of the evening restless and fevered. Matthew tended to her that night after D&D.

Mercy was still running a bit of a fever this morning, so Matthew stayed home from church with her. Hyrum didn't eat as much lunch as he probably should have before starting our fast yesterday and woke up this morning feeling a bit faint. He rallied himself though and despite his hunger he went to church and continued his fast to the end. I'm so pleased with his understanding of integrity and his desire to do what is right. This month we fasted for Sarah, as she is starting school at Utah State and has a lot to adjust to and some important choices to make.
