Week in Review

I got texts from both my primary counselors and my secretary on Sunday morning letting me know they wouldn't be at church. Two had sick kids and the other ended up staying out of town longer than expected, so I flew solo, both during primary and Sacrament meeting since Matthew was also still out of town. It was a fifth Sunday, so I had put together a review game and combined both junior and senior primary for Sharing Time. It was a bit crazy and I was glad when the three hour block was over. Matthew's flight got delayed so he didn't get home until 4:00 pm. I spent the time between church and his arrival baking cookies so that he'd have a treat to deliver to his home teaching families. He left to make his visits with Hyrum at his side at 4:30. They met with one family for about an hour, then made it home just a few minutes before our home teacher arrived. He stayed for about an hour, then Matthew and Hyrum left again to see if they could catch his last three families. They got home around 8:00 pm and were able to join in on the Skype call with Grandma Naomi until 9:00 pm. It was a long day!

The kids and I met up with Hannah and her girls at the Treehouse park to walk on Monday morning. We did lunch at Park West, then Riker came over to play for a couple of hours. At 3:00 pm Mindy brought Scott over to practice piano. We use a computer program called Musiah that connects to our digital piano. Our yearly subscription allows us to have 6 different students, so we're letting Scott take one of the spots and try it out. We had an intense rainstorm that afternoon and water was pouring in Hyrum's window, so Matthew took a drill to the weep holes to help clear out some debris.

Hannah dropped Luci and Cora off at 9:30 on Tuesday morning. At 10:30 the Richardson's arrived. We played and visited until 11:15, then packed everyone up and headed over to Park West where we met up with the Jensen's for lunch. After everyone had eaten and were starting to get hot, Becky invited us all over to her house to continue the play date. When Hannah came to get her girls she ended up staying to visit for a while. The Brown's left at 2:00 pm while Sarah and I stayed and visited over an hour longer. It was a lot of fun to get so many kids together (at the park there were at least 14 kids ranging in age from 3 to 11 all playing a game involving a single bouncy ball). When we got home Matthew used his new grill to cook us up some hamburgers. At 6:00 he took the kids with him to the Sterling Brown's house where they played and worked on Sterling's 3D printer. I went at 8:30 to pick up the kids and get them to bed. Matthew stayed longer.

After three very busy days, we were in need of some down time and spent most of Wednesday doing next to nothing. The Jolley's came for half an hour in the late afternoon for Scott to play piano, then after the kids were in bed Matthew and I cleaned up the front room and he sanded the walls.

We were back to being social on Thursday, meeting up with the Jensen's and Richardson's at Park West first thing in the morning. We got there at 9:00 am and stayed through park lunch. In the afternoon we walked down to the splash pad and met up with Hannah and her girls, as well as a new family in the ward, the Lignell's. Amy has two boys ages 5 and 7, and a teenage girl. That evening Matthew grilled brats for dinner and made vanilla ice cream using dry ice. After the kids were in bed, Matthew and I primed the pre-existing walls.

Matthew had Friday off. He spent most of it taping and mudding the new walls in the front room. I went to Walmart in the morning, then took the kids to their last park lunch. The rest of the day was relaxed and uneventful.
