Week in Review

Riker came over Monday morning and played with Mercy while I cleaned bathrooms and did laundry. In the afternoon Mercy and I went grocery shopping. That evening the Walz' came over for Family Night.

Tuesday I quilted and cleaned and that evening I rode on the trainer. The weather was rainy and cold all week and swimming lessons were postponed preemptively due to the high chance of thunder storms.

I rode on the trainer Wednesday morning. In the afternoon Hyrum and I a little pillow out of one of his favorite shirts that he has long since outgrown. That evening was Pack Meeting, so we all went to scouts. It was the first time that Matthew really, truly had nothing to do with any of the proceedings.

We went to Park West on Thursday morning. Hannah, Mindy, and I walked two miles while Mercy and Riker played. I then came home and spent four hours cleaning out and reorganizing the pantry. I rotated all my canned goods and stocked the shelves up with all the goods I purchased a couple weeks ago in the case lot sale. That evening we all took a walk over to the Sundoro neighborhood to deliver a piece of mail that was wrongfully put in our box.

Becky watched Mercy on Friday morning while I went to the Temple. I did initiatories, then afterwards was able to stop by JoAnn's and Sprouts. I spent most of the afternoon making the pizza rustica found in the new baking book that Matthew got me. The outside is pretty much a pie crust and had sage and thyme in it as well as sugar so it had a very interesting sweet and savory taste. The filling was a ricotta, Parmesan, and egg mixture with mozzarella and meat. It was supposed to have a dried sausage, but I used pepperoni because I had some on hand that needed to be used. The pepperoni was too wet and the flavor was a bit too intense for this dish, so when I make it again I'll use the kind of meat it calls for. Overall though, it turned out better than either Matthew or I expected and I'll definitely try it again.

This evening was the ward's Youth Fundraiser: a dinner, bake sale, and live auction. We weren't going to be able to go because we'd been invited to a BBQ to celebrate Hannah's graduation, but the picnic got canceled due to rain. Since we were now available to attend, Matthew decided that he wanted to donate a woodworking project and spent most of the day making a tic-tac-toe board out of mahogany and hard maple. I made an attempt at finishing a lap size moose quilt, but didn't have enough time to finish so I just donated two baby blankets I had in my stock. All three of our items sold for $25 each. We ended up bidding on and winning some handmade note cards, a large lemon trifle, and some babysitting. I left early to drop by the family party Hannah ended up having instead of the BBQ. I was able to see her sister Sarah and the new baby, as well as some of her other family members that I've started to build a relationship with. It was fun and I'm glad I was able to make it. I got home about 9:45 and then stayed up until 11:00 pm working on my sharing time lesson. Matthew kept me company while he worked on assembling the 3D printer kit he bought with his woodworking money.
