4 Years of Mercy

Mercy woke up at 7:15 this morning and I was able to sing to her before leaving for ward council. I had a present waiting for her downstairs for her to open first thing: a box of Moana cereal to eat for breakfast and a new dress to wear to church.

After church she chose a simple lunch of a hot dog, baby orange, and a cupcake left over from her party last night.

After lunch we got on Skype with Grandma Naomi and Mercy opened her presents.

She got an outfit from Grandma J, a floor puzzle and cool animal book from the Kress Grandparents, the movie Frozen, pink headphones, another Minnie outfit, and some dress up skirts from Mom and Dad, and a puppy tent from Aunt Sarah.

Once we were done Skyping and Mercy had tried on all her new things and picked an outfit to stay in for a while, we went on a leisurely afternoon walk.

It was warm but windy and I had a hard time getting a good portrait of our birthday girl. I kept trying at various spots along our walk and by the end Mercy was no longer very interested in smiling for the camera.

Mercy asked for cereal for her birthday meal, so we finished up the box she got that morning. When a birthday falls on Sunday it is naturally a bit more subdued, but I think she felt loved and had a nice day. Our Mercy girl is silly, sweet, and continues to embody the virtue after which she was named. While three was perhaps not the best age on her, we love every bit of her and look forward to what four has in store.

Happy Birthday Mercy!
