A bothersome, long lasting virus has attacked our family and Matthew, Mercy, and I have been home sick all week. By the weekend, however, we all were feeling much improved. Friday was Matthew's day off. Becky offered to watch Mercy while Matthew and I went on a date. We did a session at the Temple, then had lunch at the Basil Leaf, a Vietnamese restaurant. We had a pizza and movie night in the evening with the kids.
We got up bright and early to clean the church yesterday morning. While the kids helped empty garbage cans and I vacuumed, Matthew started setting up for the ward Pinewood Derby. I did some grocery shopping in the afternoon and baked cookies to contribute to the evening activity. Though there wasn't as big a turn out as the Bishop anticipated, the races went well and everyone had a good time. Afterwards, Matthew hosted the first Elder's Quorum game night. Only Jeb and Eric (who's not even in our ward) came, but they cracked open Power Grid and had a good time learning the game. I watched until 11:00 and called it a night more than an hour before they finished up.
I had ward council this morning, then for the first time in three weeks our entire family made it to church. I'm not conducting or in charge of sharing time this month, so it was a pretty relaxed day for me. In the evening we had the Brown's over for Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes. They brought Hannah's nephew Owen along, as well as their family friend Jeff. Hannah took her kids home after dinner, but the men stayed and they and I played another round of Power Grid. It was a really fun night.
