Week in Review

Most of us had grumbly tummies on Monday, so we spent the day recovering from our big camping weekend. Swimming lessons got cancelled again due to the city turning off the pool's water, or something like that. I did get a bike ride in and went grocery shopping. Matthew and I have decided to try a roughly 1300 calorie per day diet that is low in carbs and high in lean protein. Matthew would like to drop a few lbs before he hikes Kings Peak in July and I'm trying to loose about 8 lbs before my bike race in September. I'm actually pretty excited to try out this meal plan, which includes a lot of salad and fish.

Tuesday was the boys' last day before summer school started, so we soaked up every minute with friends and fun. After my ride on the trainer, we went to the purple park to check out a new program, story time at the park. A lady read Corduroy and afterwards we got to keep a copy of the book. Following story time was park lunch, then the Jolley boys invited us over for a while. We played there for about an hour, then all of us met up with the Shaw's at the splash pad down the street from our house. After a little bit of down time and some dinner, we finished up the day with swimming lessons.

Wednesday morning we walked the boys over to the dog park and watched my little Abraham get on the bus for the first time. He was so excited. Mercy was at a complete loss with out her playmates and in response to not being allowed to spend the morning watching TV, she protested by taking a two hour nap. After story time and park lunch, we ran a couple errands and then walked back over to the park to meet the boys at 2:00. Abraham's review of the day was definitely very positive: This school is way awesomer than my other one. The doll house is much better and they have TWO sets of blocks! I'm in the bi-lingal class and we gotted to eat two times and I made lots of new friends! Matthew stayed home to work on setting up our pool while I took the kids to swimming lessons.

Thursday felt like my first normal day in a long time. I rode my bike, did some chores, went to park lunch, had quiet time, made dinner, and took the kids to swimming. It was the last day of lessons so they got to spend some time free swimming in the kiddie pool and everyone got to go down the slide. Abraham passed the preschool class and can move on to pod one, Hyrum needs to repeat pod one, and Mercy needs to repeat the preschool class. I don't know that we'll actually do lessons again, but I'm not sad we had them go through a course. Matthew got the pool all set up and now they can practice what they've learned in the comfort of our own back yard. Hannah stopped by with the girls for a bit, so the kids got to bed a little late, but it was fun to visit for a while. Matthew hosted his book club, so I was able to have some down time to myself. I thought about maybe watching a show, but was so tired that I ended up just falling asleep.

This morning Mercy and I went for a ride along the Bosque. It took me longer than I anticipated to get my bike and the trailer and her snacks and my gear all organized in the car, so we didn't start riding until a bit after 9:00 and it was already getting pretty hot. I had hoped for 20 miles, but I'm pleased with at least doing 15. We stopped by the Jolley's briefly to use their bathroom, then went with the boys to park lunch. Matthew came home early because he was having computer problems at work and we decided we should take advantage of the situation by going camping. I supervised the kids in the pool while Matthew packed us up, and we headed off around 4:00 for another weekend adventure.
